Netflix cuts prices for subscribers in more than 30 countries

Netflix has reduced its subscription prices in more than 30 countries, including India, Malaysia, and Indonesia, in an attempt to attract more customers. The price cuts range from 20% to 50% and are aimed at making the streaming service more affordable for users in these markets.

The price cut in India is the most significant, with the company cutting its monthly subscription fee by up to 50%. Netflix has been facing stiff competition in India from homegrown rivals like Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, and ZEE5, which offer more affordable subscriptions and localized content.

In Malaysia, Netflix has reduced the price of its Basic plan by 20% to MYR 17 ($4.17) per month, while the Premium plan now costs MYR 55 ($13.47) per month, down from MYR 59 ($14.45).

Netflix has been investing heavily in original content to attract more subscribers, but the company has faced challenges in some markets where it has struggled to compete with local streaming services. The price cuts are part of Netflix's efforts to address these challenges and expand its user base in these markets.
